If you live in Tirana, work in Albania, or are in the country for a few weeks, a hair transplant is a simpler piece of logistics than it is for the patients who fly in. Who this page is for

Why being local changes the aftercare, not the surgery
The operation is identical: local anaesthesia, extraction from the safe donor zone, incisions, placement, a 6 to 8 hour day for a 3,000-graft session. The technique choice is made the same way. FUE explains the standard method step by step, including punch size and how the donor pattern is planned.
What changes is everything after. The first wash on day 2 is done here with the nurse, and you can come back on day 3 or day 4 if you would rather have the second and third wash supervised than do them over your own sink. Scabs are gone by day 10 to 14, and we would rather look at your scalp at day 10 than read a photograph of it. At each milestone you sit down in front of the surgeon, who compares your own head with the standardised photographs taken on the day, which is a better instrument than any phone camera.
That matters most in the two situations where a foreign patient is at a disadvantage: something that needs a look, a spot of folliculitis or an area that is slow, and the twelve-month decision about whether a second session is worth doing.

Coming in from another city
Patients travel in from around the country, and the only real planning question is how many trips you want to make. We can do the consultation and the surgery on consecutive days so one journey covers both, with the day 2 check before you head home. If you would rather split them, the consultation is its own appointment and is free.
If you drive, ask us about parking when you book. If you arrive by bus or ferry, tell us the arrival time and we will fit the appointment around it rather than the other way round.
Price, and why it is the same as the price a foreign patient pays
The package is €2,500 for FUE up to 4,500 grafts, and it covers pre-operative blood tests, the procedure with the medical team, post-operative medication and care products, hotel accommodation in Tirana, airport transfers, and the follow-up checks. If you live here, the hotel nights and transfers inside that package are of no use to you, so we take them out of the plan rather than charge you for a bed you do not need. Ask for the local version of the quote and you will get an itemised one. Payment is by by card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) or bank transfer, in euro and the deposit is €200 deposit. FAQ
Can I have surgery next week?
Often yes. We run one operating list a day, so the constraint is the calendar rather than a queue: if a date is free and your consultation, blood tests and plan are done, the surgery can follow within days. What we will not do is compress the consultation to fit a date. If the examination raises something, unstable loss, a scalp condition, medication that needs a pause, we will tell you to wait and why.
How much time off work do I need?
Plan for the surgery day and the two or three days after it. You can work from a desk within a couple of days if nobody minds a shaved head with visible redness, and most patients take a week. Sport, the gym and anything that makes you sweat heavily wait until day 10 to 14, sun protection continues for a month, and no alcohol for the first week. Sleeping elevated for three to five nights is the part people forget to plan for.
Will colleagues notice?
Yes, in the short term, because the donor area is clipped and the recipient area is red for a while. Then the transplanted hairs shed between weeks two and six and you look roughly as you did before, which is the quiet part of the timeline nobody warns you about. Real change starts at month three or four and reads as normal hair around month six. If there is an event you care about, count backwards from it and tell us the date at the consultation.
Is the price different for residents of Albania?
The surgery costs the same. What differs is the package: the hotel nights, the airport transfer and the translator are what a travelling patient is paying for, and you are not using them. Ask for the quote itemised, and you will see exactly what has been removed. The consultation is free either way.
Can I come back for the washes?
Yes, and locals should. The first wash on day 2 is included for everybody. If you want the next few supervised as well, come in; it costs you nothing and it is the single easiest way to protect grafts in the first week, when the scabs are softening and the instinct to scrub is strongest. Bring the shampoo we gave you so we can check you are using the right amount of pressure.
